We all have those moments when it seems like everything is due all at once; everyone needs you and demands your immediate attention. To be honest, these moments happen quite often for me. As a business owner, Minister, Worship & Arts Director, and Wife it often seems like there is not enough of me to go around. There came a point in time when I felt like I should just walk away from it all. How could I be everything that everyone needed me to be? No matter how much I planned ahead, I felt like I could never stay on top of my schedule. Not to mention the fact that I didn’t have anytime time for myself or time to just take care of me. I was running on empty and I needed to re-evaluate my responsibilities, quick!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9”
Just as I started to come up with my exit plan, God reminded me that everything that consumed my time were things that I had prayed for. And because He had given me these roles and responsibilities He had also given me Grace to do it. The problem was I had not yet tapped into the well of grace available to me. This revelation caused me to take a step back and really meditate on what grace is.
2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I’ve heard this scripture a thousand times and even referenced it conversation while encouraging others. When I think of grace, I mostly thought about it in the context of sin and God’s grace that covers our unrighteousness. But God began to show me in His word that grace is not just for our sins, but every aspect of our lives.
Far too often I try to handle everything on my own. This was never what God intended. As women, we have a special gift of multi-tasking. Even though we have this innate ability to wear many hats, God wants us to tap into the well of Grace that will give us the fuel we need to keep going. No one expects to drive a car without ever stopping to refuel. The well of Grace that is made available to us is just like the gasoline – and its free! All we have to do is learn to put our trust in God and make sure that no matter how many responsibilities we have, we keep Him a priority in our lives.
God wants us to be successful and has given us the drive and passion to do all that we desire to accomplish. But in order to keep going, we have got to take time to fuel up. If you feel as though you’re running low or close to empty, go back to the well of grace; its more than sufficient!
